Application Platform for Pervasive Computing (APPC)

The notion of pervasive computing poses a series of challenges to the application platform in terms of the system architecture and infrastructure, as well as the integration methodology and technology for both software and hardware components. Research in generic and/or domain-specific platforms is, therefore, necessary to provide a friendly, fast, and convenient developing environment.

The ICPCA2008 special track on Application Platform for Pervasive Computing (APPC) seeks to stimulate and promote research and collaboration on all areas of application platforms facilitating pervasive computing. We are particularly interested in contributions on requirement studies, new methodologies, latest research on key technologies, and experience and lessons on constructing platforms. APPC also serves as a lively and friendly forum for presenting and discussing work in progress in a less formal way.

Topics

The special track welcomes both full and short position papers. Submitted manuscripts should be formatted according to ICPCA2008 proceeding guidelines. The maximal length is 6 pages for full papers and 4 pages for position papers. Submissions must be in PDF format and should be made via EasyChair at Track Submission Site. When submitting papers, please state clearly why the paper is relevant to the special track. The papers will published by IEEE Press and extended versions of full papers will be invited to a special issue of SCI journals.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Generic and Domain-Specific Platforms and Frameworks
  • Integrative, Adaptive, Resource-Aware and Power-Efficient Techniques and Technologies
  • Network and Processor Architectures and Protocols
  • Haptic, Visual and Multi-Sensor Technologies
  • Service Science, Management and Engineering Frameworks
  • Service-Oriented Design, Programming and Architectures
  • Fault and Exception Detection and Handling
  • Mobile Peer-to-Peer Networks and Applications
  • Business Processes Management and Business Rules Management
  • Security, Trust, Privacy, and Resource-Access Control
  • Data Storage, Retrieval and Transformation
