Pervasive Collaboration

The ICPCA2008 Conference has successfully developed into an international event for researchers and developers to exchange their experiences and expertise on pervasive computing.
Thus far, more users are connected with mobile devices along with which we see the looming of a new research area to accommodate the needs of working collaboratively in pervasive environment. The notion of Pervasive Collaboration is to extend the conventional Computer Supported Collaborative Work into one underpinned by mobile and wearable devices. This has strong implications on both hardware and software development in CSCW. This special track seeks participation from the conventional CSCW community to examine the insufficiency of current state-of-the-art in research on collaborative work. It also serves as forum to discover new research areas and foster future collaborations.

Topics

The special track welcomes contributions in three forms: reporting novel techniques and technologies to enable Pervasive Collaboration; theoretical papers addressing the foundations of Pervasive Collaboration; empirical studies of tools and systems supporting collaborative work in pervasive environments.

Interested special track topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Cooperative Design and HCI Technologies in Pervasive Collaboration
  • Context Aware Technology and context modelling, context ontologies
  • Collaborative use of mobile technology at home, in public and particularly in work settings
  • Semantic Web in Pervasive Collaboration
  • Web 2.0 in Pervasive Collaboration
  • Multimedia data storage and retrieval
  • Security, Trust, Privacy, and other Socio-technical Issues in Pervasive Collaboration
  • Theories and models of collaborative activities in Pervasive Collaboration
  • Pervasive Collaboration in learning and design
  • Collaboration in Wireless Sensor Networks
  • Collaboration for Web Services and GIS.

The special track welcomes both full papers and short position papers. When submitting position papers, please state clearly why the paper is relevant to the special track.
